When have I tested enough?
Testing strategies and approaches differ among trading partners.
Our goal is to validate that transactions from a trading partner
are processed without error when compared against previously adjudicated
claims; therefore, the ACS EDI Team strongly encourages
trading partners to submit production-quality and production-quantity
transaction batches. This may mean working with one or more provider
affiliated with a trading partner.
Providers are also strongly encouraged to request test scenarios/test
claims that have particular relevance to them. For this reason,
it is important that providers maintain close contact with their
vendors, software developers, third party administrators (TPA),
or clearinghouses. Please review the Approach to Group 2 Testing
document for minimum and maximum testing thresholds.
Who decides when testing is complete?
The trading partner and the ACS EDI Team mutually determine
when transaction testing is complete. At a minimum, the following
should occur to satisfy testing requirements:
- Demonstrate you can submit a certified transaction
- Submit a minimum number of claims/transmissions, per the
Approach
to Group 2 Testing document
- Receive notification that test claims passed through the
translator and correctly processed in HPMMIS
Trading partners that have successfully completed applicable
test cycles should submit an email to the ACS EDI Team at [email protected]
The contents of the email should indicate successful completion
of the testing phase by transaction. Med-QUEST will respond with
questions or with confirmation, as applicable.
What about trading partner agreements?
Current trading partner agreements for electronic claims submission
are sufficient for testing purposes. Please check back later for
more information.
What Happens When I Go Into Production?
Trading partners that successfully pass testing will be logged
on the Trading Partner Testing Status
schedule.
